The European Digital Innovation Hub Trakia (EDIH Trakia) and Women4Cyber – Bulgaria announced that the cybersecurity training, which EDIH Trakia provides free of charge to Bulgarian business representatives under the Cyber4AllSTAR project, is now part of the pan-European Road2Cyber platform and through it become available throughout Europe. “Trakia” is the first among 150 digital hubs in Europe whose courses are on the platform.
The Hub offers face-to-face and hybrid cybersecurity courses to equip users with the knowledge and skills for a successful career path in cybersecurity, with support from the European Commission’s Digital Europe program and the Department for Innovation and Growth’s national ‘INIT 2021-2027’. The EDIH Trakia training is aimed at staff and managers of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the South Central Region and beyond, from start-ups to manufacturing enterprises in the industrial sector.
The courses, which can boast a learner satisfaction rate of over 90% based on interim data for the first 18 months of EDIH Trakia’s operations, are helping to increase the sustainability of digital supply chains and to achieve Bulgaria’s national targets under the “Europe Digital Decade” initiative. In Bulgaria, less than 30% of SMEs have reached at least a basic level of digital intensity compared to an EU average of 58%. The situation is similar in the labour market – only 35% of citizens have basic digital skills compared to the EU average of 55%.
“Road2Cyber is a newly launched community platform, a project of the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) and the Women4Cyber Foundation Europe, which offers a rich catalogue of academic and corporate training, certification programmes, and opportunities to connect with employers in the cybersecurity sector. The platform also provides career guidance opportunities for school and university students, mentoring programmes for professionals, and job listings. Job seekers can also create their profiles to get noticed by employers internationally. The platform is open to anyone interested in academic and professional development in cybersecurity, regardless of current skill level and experience.
“We are proud to be part of this important project and to provide Bulgarian professionals with the opportunity to acquire and improve their skills in one of the most dynamic and sought-after areas of the future – cybersecurity,” said the European Digital Innovation Hub Trakia, coordinated by the Union for Private Economic Enterprise (ECSO member). The Hub brings together the Bulgarian Cybersecurity Association, the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Municipality of Plovdiv, and several other business, civil and institutional partners from home and abroad.
