The “School for Parents” program on Eurocom TV interviewed cybersecurity expert Dr. Hristiyan Daskalov from EDIH Trakia about common online scams and protecting children and adults. Key topics included the cybersecurity profession, the use of AI to create fake explicit videos for shaming, and professions that may disappear in the future. This online lesson was part of EDIH Thrakia’s observance of the pan-European Cybersecurity Month.
The lesson topics included: The list of all the topics covered in the lesson include: the most common scams found on the Internet; Internet bullying; ways of victim-blaming; cyber security and children; education before surfing the web; free access of children to the Internet – when?; parental control apps; literate children in the digital world?; schools without phones. Is it applicable to Bulgarian children?; How to protect your home computer and phone from viruses?; What future awaits us? Artificial and natural intelligence; The professions of the future and the future of professions; The necessary changes in schools to meet the changing environment.
Although the main focus of EDIH Trakia is on the provision of free technology services to businesses in the field of cyber security, the Cyber4AllSTAR project with the support of the Digital Europe program of the European Commission and the national program “Research, Innovation and Digitalization for Smart Transformation” 2021-2027 also carries out several activities of an educational nature for all stakeholders. For example, at the end of October, at the invitation of the State Agency for Cybersecurity of Romania, the President of EDIH Thrakia will moderate the panel discussion “Addressing the cybersecurity skills and workforce gap, building the workforce of tomorrow“, during which the growing shortage of cybersecurity personnel globally and solutions to this problem from the practice of leading companies and institutions, including the European Commission, will be discussed. This will include solutions for professional education and training provided by digital innovation hubs from across the European Union.
Earlier this month, in the period 16-18 October, the Digital Innovation Hub “Thrace” was again a guest of its partners from Romania, this time to participate in the prestigious international “Euro-Atlantic Resilience” forum at the Parliament in Bucharest, organized by the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Center at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the forum, a round table on “Future Cyber Battlegrounds” was held during which Dr. Christian Daskalov outlined the main initiatives that EDIH Trakia is working on with its partners from Romania, namely: on the creation of shared infrastructure in the field of cybersecurity, together with ICI Bucharest; on the joint provision of services for businesses with leading digital innovation hubs such as the Brasov-based “FIT” EDIH; on the exchange of experience in the implementation of innovative cybersecurity policies, jointly with the State Agency for Cybersecurity (DNSC), and more recently on the international project “ECY Bridge” with the coordinator “Maritime Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence” – Constanta, on which assoc. prof. Velizar Shalamanov from the team of EDIH Trakia and the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences has been invited as a leading expert.
