On February 21-23, 2025, at the Landmark Creek Hotel in Plovdiv took place the consulting events “European Digital Innovation Days in Auditing”, organized by the European Digital Innovation Hub “Trakia” (EDIH Trakia), in cooperation with Technical Trading Bulgaria Ltd, CI Bulgaria Ltd. Leading experts, certified auditors and business representatives were present to discuss current trends, regulatory changes and best practices in the field of digitalization and technological innovations related to auditing.
Key highlights from the seminar
The workshop covered a variety of topics related to accreditation requirements, new certification opportunities and improving external audit processes. Highlights included:
- Accreditation process development and audit feedback – leading experts analysed the challenges and opportunities for improvement in audit management.
- Upcoming EU-funded project initiatives – new opportunities for digitisation, technology modernisation and training programmes were presented.
- Cybersecurity and information security – focus on certified trainings in this area led by experts such as Yasen Tanev and Radostina Dakowska.
Lectures on NIS2 and DORA
Among the highlights of the event was the participation of Sasha Boncheva, coordinator of Women4Cyber Bulgaria, who gave a lecture on NIS2 – the key European directive on network and information security. Her presentation covered the new regulatory requirements, the obligations of organizations and best practices to ensure cyber resilience.

Miroslav Mitev also gave a specialised lecture on the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), which introduces enhanced requirements for the digital operational resilience of the financial sector. Participants received practical guidance on implementing the regulatory requirements and managing the associated risks.
Dedicated training sessions
Attendees had the opportunity to engage in practical modules divided by audit area:
- For ISO 27001 and ISO 20000-1 auditors – looking at sector specific requirements and their integration with DORA and the NIS2 Directive.
- For ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000 auditors – best practices for reporting results and process optimization.
