The European Digital Innovation Hub Trakia (EDIH Trakia) presents its new course “HPC & AI – Foundations of Artificial Intelligence and High Performance Computing”, designed for professionals who want to acquire basic knowledge and practical skills for the application of artificial intelligence in the public sector, business and industry.
The course is implemented under the Cyber4AllSTAR project with the financial support of the Digital Europe programme of the European Union and the national programme “Research, Innovation and Digitalisation for Smart Transformation” (SNIDIT 2021-2027).
Objectives and scope of training
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to apply the acquired knowledge to plan and organize the use of AI applications in their companies and institutions. The training includes four main topics:
- Basics of Artificial Intelligence – Introduction to the concept and history of AI, as well as basic approaches to problem solving and knowledge representation;
- Introduction to AI and machine learning – Explore intelligent architectures, neural networks and various machine learning methods;
- Artificial Intelligence for business users – Application of AI in various industries from finance, marketing, education, healthcare, transportation, etc.;
- The relationship between HPC and AI – Interaction of high-performance computing with AI, IoT, blockchain technologies and cyber-physical systems.
Method of conduct and duration
The training will take place in an online format and will include 32 training hours, spread over a flexible schedule of four lecture sessions scheduled on weekdays and after working hours, and a further four asynchronous sessions to practice and consolidate what has been learned, the timing of which will be tailored to the needs and abilities of the trainees.
The pilot edition of the course will take place on 25, 26, 27 and 31 March 2025. The dates in April are aligned with the Easter holidays and accordingly the seminar sessions in this month will take place on 22, 23, 29 and 30 April. As the groups fill up on a monthly basis, the dates for the other upcoming training sessions in that month will be determined.
Lecturer
The lecturer of the course will be Peyo Staribratov, co-founder of Skill Catalyst Ltd. and leading expert in the field of information technology, digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence in education. He has extensive experience as an IT and technology and entrepreneurship educator, implementing innovative practices in schools and training organizations.
With a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and as a current PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski”, Peyo Staribratov explores the possibilities of transforming business processes and educational methods through artificial intelligence. His expertise in training teachers and developing effective digital integration strategies makes him an ideal mentor for this course.

The companies accessing the training are considered as beneficiaries of indirect State aid of EUR 750 per trainee (50% of the catalogue value of the Cyber4AllSTAR service) under the general rules of the DIPIDIT 2021-2027 and the Digital Europe Programme.
